Broodstock Requisition Information

This page will help you acquire available MBP broodstock and read or download suggested MBP broodstock family crosses and spawning protocols. To access summary information about broodstock that is available now, click the following link: Broodstock Availability.

Please only make suggested crosses as they have been evaluated based on extensive field performance. Our results show that growth and survival vary widely based on the specific cross made. Making crosses that are not based on field evaluations may produce families with poorer than expected performance.

More suggested crosses are added as sites are harvested and the data becomes available. Click here to download a copy of the MBP Pedigree Chart shown on the left which summarizes the planting date and location of MBP oyster cohorts produced from 1996 to present.

About MBP’s Broodstock Respository:

Prior to plant out approximately 1,000 oysters from each cross are bagged and held at a dedicated intertidal repository in Netarts Bay, OR. Oysters from this repository will be available for industry partners as soon as progeny are tested and specific crosses can be recommended. In addition, oysters from high-performing families are held at the site in which they were tested. Please contact MBP for more information on obtaining selected broodstock.
